Food

On Friday, my BFF T and I went to a relatively new resteraunt ... The Pit.

I read all the reviews. Most were not good. Mainly the service, although more than enough commented on the food. But I just haaaad to go. You know, to see for myself.
The atmosphere was nice, jazzy music playing in the background. We were seated right away. The decor was nice as well. Not spectacular, but pretty good and it was clean. There were lots of people there. Good sign, right? Large parties of folks, celbrating stuff, all seemingly happy. Another good sign.

The smoked ribs only tasted like smoke... no other flavor. The pulled pork (a shoulder sammich in my hood) was dry. Even after smothering it in a ton of  too vinegary sauce. The sweet potatoes were too sweet. The greens were tough. The corn was bland. The mac and cheese was bland. There was one piece of corn bread served between the two of us and it was cut diagonally, giving us each 1/2 piece. Two lonely 1/2 pieces of cornbread, served in a big ass basket. I nursed 1 glass of water, it was never refilled.

Service started out good and went downhill. I left a 12% tip.

$52.00 shot to hell. Waste of money. I shoulda passed.

Saturday, BFF and I went to Sweet Mango

I read the reviews, they were pretty good. The food is Thai.

Small place, nothing fancy. Clean. Fantastic service. Super friendly staff.
The summer rolls were wonderful.  The masaman curry with shrimp was okay. A bit toooo sweet for me. Except for the sweet potatoes that were really hnot sweet at all. Served with a pyramid of brown rice. T had seafood delight. Muscles, shrimp, squid ( I think) scallops with veggies. Pyramid of brown rice.  Wonderful! Will be returning soon!

$30.00 well spent 20% tip
